How to Enter Rwanda. 3 things needed
In this blogpost we’re going to talk about the 3 things you need to enter Rwanda now.
So, if you want to finally Visit Rwanda and don’t know what you need to enter, you’re at the right place.
The travel requirement at the moment are as follows:
Passport
Of course, you need a valid passport. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Rwanda and you’ll need one blank page on your passport for entry stamps. There are some exceptions, people coming from a country in the EAC (Uganda and Kenya) can enter with an ID-card.
Vaccination
I know after 2020 we all think about Covid tests and vaccines but those are not needed anymore. The vaccine that you might need is a Yellow Fever vaccine if you’re coming from an active Yellow Fever transmission outbreak country or if you recently (within 24 days) visited a so-called Yellow Fever endemic country. According to the WHO these countries are: Angola, Equatorial Guinea, Mauritania, Benin, Ethiopia, Niger, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Nigeria, Burundi, Gambia, the Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Guinea, South Sudan, Chad, Guinea-Bissau, Sudan, Republic of Congo, Kenya, Togo, Cote d'Ivoire, Liberia, Uganda Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Trinidad, Venezuela.
If you don’t have a Yellow Fever certificate when you are required, you will be quarantined and vaccinated upon arrival at your own costs.
VISA
You need a visa to enter Rwanda. 5 years ago, Rwanda announced it was going to open its borders to everyone. As of Jan. 2018 anyone could just come to Rwanda without prior visa purchase, and get a 30 days visa upon arrival for like 30$ back then (50$ now).
It has been extended now. Currently, according to my count 111 countries or nations, get a FREE tourist visa upon arrival. Totally free. The visa durations range from a minimum of 30days to 6 months.
